2007 Season - Week 19
And then there were four
Saturday went to plan as Green Bay came back from 14-0 down after just 4 minutes to defeat Seattle 42-20 on “the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field”. Then New England eased away from Jacksonville 31-20 to equal the ’72 Dolphins with a 17-0 record. But Sunday was very different. Firstly San Diego overcame injuries to LT, Philip Rivers & Antonio Gates to knock the defending champion Indianapolis Colts out of the playoffs 28-24. Then in the late game the NFC’s number 1 seed Dallas Cowboys were bumped from the postseason by the New York Giants 20-17 as Eli moves further on in the playoffs than his Big Brother.
And then there were four
Two more upsets continued in the “Search for BUMSBowl XII” as David Stamp’s number 14 seeds beat AP (5) and Wayne (9) held of a late challenge by Cheryl (7). Number 2 seed Johnny held off a late surge by Aaron (16) to win by 3 points while Mark B (6) held off Marcus (13) also by 3. Neither Johnny nor David Stamp have made the BUMSBowl in it’s 12 year history but one of them will, as they’ll face off in the Championship round while Mark B (4 appearances) plays Wayne (1). Teams to me by 10am Sunday please.
BUMS Meal Out
Don’t forget we are at Bodeans, Poland Street, W1 this Friday at 6:30pm for a Ribs & Pulled Pork dinner. If you can’t make it let me know as I need to confirm numbers on Wednesday.
All-BUMS Voting
Time to vote for your favourite players of 2007. Attached are the top scoring players at each position. As per usual I need (in order) your top 3 Running Backs and top 3 Receivers plus your number 1 & 2 Quarterbacks, Kickers and Coaches. These should be with me by Thursday January 31st so that the votes can be counted and the team can be announced at the BUMS Superbowl Party on Sunday February 3rd at BUMS HQ from around 10:30pm.
BUMS on Seats
And then there were four. The Championship games are late on Sunday night so we are splitting them over two nights. We are at BUMS HQ at 9pm Sunday to see live the AFC Championship game as New England host upset minded San Diego (9pm kick off) and then at a venue to be confirmed from 6:30pm on Monday to see (off tape) the NFC decided as New York Giants travel to Green Bay. As a result the newsletter will be sent on Tuesday. SO PLEASE NO EMAILS NEXT MONDAY. Remember the Superbowl is not until the first Sunday in February (the 3rd) so have a word with your boss and take Monday 4th off. Join us for the usual Superbowl fun and games & Cheryl’s tasty morcels from around 10pm. Please let us know if you can make it so we can sort the catering. All are welcome.
